Alumni Junior Board Members
The Alumni Junior Board are former Saltire Scholars who offer a valuable perspective to the Saltire Foundation's Advisory Board members. They represent the Canadian alumni community and support the growth the Saltire Scholar Internship Program, creating more opportunities for Scottish university students in Canada. They connect and strengthen the alumni group by promoting professional growth and a strong global network.
Struan Fotheringhame
Struan sits as Chair on the Saltire Foundation Canada Junior Board.
He interned with AtkinsRéalis as a Saltire Scholar in 2023. He graduated from University of Strathclyde with a Masters Chemical and Process Engineering.
Struan is now a Junior Process Engineering Assistant at AtkinsRéalis.
Niamh O’Neill
Niamh O’Neill sits as Vice-Chair on the Saltire Foundation Canada Junior Board.
In 2024, Niamh interned as a Consulting Intern with P1 Consulting in Toronto, Canada. She graduated from the University of Strathclyde, with a Masters Aero-Mechanical Engineering.
Niamh is now a Reactor Components Design Engineering Assistant at Candu Energy in Canada.
Anya Stuart
Anya sits as Secretary on the Saltire Foundation Canada Junior Board.
As a Saltire Scholar she spent the summer of 2022 in Toronto, Canada, interning at KPMG as a data science analyst for 8 weeks thanks to Entrepreneurial Scotland and the Saltire Canada Foundation.
Aidan O’Riordan
Aidan sits as Marketing and Outreach Lead on the Saltire Foundation Canada Junior Board.
In 2024, Aidan interned as a Saltire Scholar at Black & McDonald in Toronto, Canada. He was working as an Estimation intern as part of the ICI Electrical Construction team.
Aidan has just graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a Master's Degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. He now works Project Coordinator at Black & McDonald in Canada.
Alejandro Thompson Castro
Alejandro sits as Engagement Lead on the Saltire Foundation Canada Junior Board.
Ale completed his internship as a Saltire Scholar in 2022 at Candu Energy Inc (SNC).
He is a junior technical project manager working in renewable energy development, with experience across grid connections, technical due diligence, and project coordination. I enjoy collaborating with others to deliver successful projects and take pride in tackling challenges with a detail-oriented approach.
Olivia Byth
Olivia Byth sits as Brand Ambassador on the Saltire Foundation Canada Junior Board.
She interned at AtkinsRealis as a Saltire Scholar in 2022. After graduating university in Scotland in 2023, she moved to Canada and rejoined her host company as a Financial Analyst.
Olivia has now returned back home after spending 2 years out in Canada, and is working as an Analyst with Morgan Stanley.
She has acted as a Brand Ambassador since completing her own internship, and has mentored scholars from 2023 to present.
